A Direct Support Professional (DSP) works directly with people dealing with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD). DSPs work closely to help people with I/DD achieve the fullest lives possible. Providing direct support is different than caregiving. Unlike caregivers, DSPs teach people with disabilities how to do things independently and become self-sufficient. We offer placement choices for employers so they can deliver the proper assistance for individuals with special needs. Enlisting the aid of a DSP means empowering people with special needs to overcome challenges in areas and activities that would otherwise be difficult for them. DSPs may work in the person’s home, their family’s home, in a habilitation center, or out in the community.
